On the 31st August 1888, a letter was written to the Board of Education of that time requesting a bell to replace the old cracked bullock bell. The request was accepted and a new bell was despatched by steamer in October, 1888.
For almost a hundred years, the bell was rung. When World War 2 ended, the bell was rung to inform the town.
Unfortunately the bell was sold by the Department of Works in 1964 for 1 pound after the pole that it was mounted on was discovered to be rotten.
It wasn't until 1974 when Mr Doherty, the principal at the time, became aware that the school used to have a fine bell to summon the pupils to class. Mr Doherty discovered who had purchased the bell and got into contact. The bell was now at Blenheim Station.
With the support of Blenheim Station owners, the bell was returned to the school and it was put back into use on the 1st October 1974.
The 2020, the school purchased its first ever electronic bell. In 2022, the old bell was moved to accommodate the new administration building.
However, the old school bell is still rung every school day to signal the beginning of the day.
