At Nebo State School, we believe every student has the potential to be a leader. Our student leadership program provides opportunities for students to develop confidence, responsibility, teamwork and a sense of pride in their school and wider community.
Leadership is about more than wearing a badge. It is about leading by example, showing kindness and respect, supporting others, and making a positive contribution to school life.
School Captains
Each year, 2 school captains are elected to represent Nebo State School. Our captains are positive role models who demonstrate our school expectations, lead school parades, welcome visitors and represent the school at community events, including ANZAC Day ceremonies and other special occasions.
Sports Captains
Students have the opportunity to lead our 2 sporting houses, Cooper and Denison. Sports Captains encourage participation, promote teamwork and sportsmanship, and support students during sporting events and activities.
Kindy Captain
Our Kindy Captain plays a special role in supporting and representing our youngest learners. This position provides an opportunity for students to develop leadership skills while encouraging positive relationships between our kindergarten and school students.
Student Councillors
Student voice is an important part of school life at Nebo State School. At the beginning of each school year, students from Year 2-6 nominate their peers to represent their class on the Student Council, with 2 representatives selected from each class.
Student Councillors attend meetings where they share ideas, raise suggestions and represent the views of their classmates. This provides students with a genuine opportunity to contribute to school decisions, develop communication skills, and take an active role in improving our school.
Developing tomorrow’s leaders
Our student leaders are encouraged to demonstrate care, respect, responsibility, initiative and integrity in everything they do. Through leadership opportunities, students learn the importance of listening to others, working together, making positive decisions and contributing to their community.
At Nebo State School, we are proud to provide opportunities for students to find their voice, develop their strengths, and grow into confident, capable and caring young leaders.
