Future Ready is a 5-year partnership between BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) and the Queensland Department of Education, supporting 18 schools across the Bowen Basin. Nebo State School is an active participant in this partnership.
The program strengthens STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education through hands-on learning, teacher development, investment in schools and connections with local industry. It aims to equip students with the skills, confidence and knowledge needed for future careers.
In 2026, the program’s second year, more than $500,000 in direct school investment was planned, alongside an additional $175,000 for collaborative projects. Schools also benefited from professional learning opportunities and practical STEM experiences.
Looking ahead, Future Ready will continue to connect classroom learning with emerging technologies, local industries and career pathways. From 2027, the partnership will focus on schools in the Isaac and Mackay regions.
